Inner Resistance in Ayi Jufrida's Kabut Perang: Conflict and Post-Peace Realities of Aceh
Abstract
This study aims to describe the inner conflicts depicted in a novel themed around the Aceh conflict and the realities of post-peace society. The research employed a qualitative method with documentation and document analysis techniques. The data source of this study is Kabut Perang (2010), a novel by Ayi Jufridar, published by Universal Nikko, consisting of 358 pages and bearing ISBN 9786029547627. The data analyzed include words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs that contain elements of inner conflict. The findings reveal that the novel Kabut Perang portrays inner struggles within its characters and events. The identified forms of inner conflict include: (1) emotional turmoil, (2) repression of problems, (3) revenge, (4) dissemination of ideology, (5) rejection of reconciliation, (6) moral dilemmas, (7) propagation of hatred, (8) wavering faith, (9) guilt, (10) doubt in struggle, (11) loyalty and betrayal, (12) resilience, and (13) disobedience. These manifestations of inner conflict are rooted in the author’s sociological perspective and the realities experienced within society.
